Northwest Passage, PCDC's Labor Day dance and music weekend, celebrates its third year at our superb new home: Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp. Located near Rhododendron, an easy 53-mile drive from Portland, Kiwanis features a great dance hall and a variety of accommodations in a beautiful forest setting. Rejoining us is culinary wizard Beth Gibans. Beth will again delight us with her delicious, healthy, locally sourced cuisine for both omnivores and vegetarians. In addition to all the great dancing, we'll be offering a wide range of music and singing workshops. Portland's always-popular John Oorthuys will engineer our weekend's sound. As usual, our Labor Day camp starts with an evening dance on Friday, September 2 and ends in the early afternoon of Monday, September 5. The Sunday evening dance always has a theme — typically a color scheme — to inspire dancers however it may. For 2011, our theme will be: Orange and Purple. Mark your calendars now, and keep your eyes open for the camp applications that will appear here, in your mailboxes, and at local dances in early May. Help Wanted! Northwest Passage offers several work-trade positions. In return for a few hours of help with essential camp tasks, work-traders receive a $75 discount off their camp fee and the satisfaction of helping make NWP a great camp. Work-trade tasks are arranged for minimal overlap with scheduled events. |
